- Valve has also confirmed that the Steam Deck OLED will be 30 grams lighter, along with having a bigger fan for better cooling.
Valve just announced that they are about to launch the new Steam Deck OLED on November 16, 2023. The new version of the Steam Deck is set to have a bigger OLED display, longer battery life, bigger fans for efficient cooling, and will also be 30 grams lighter as well!
After looking at the launch trailer above, it seems like both versions of the Stem Deck look exactly the same. Apart from the better screen and the battery life improvements, everything else seems to be as it was.
Valve has claimed that the better battery in the Steam Deck OLED will make its battery life 30% to 50% longer. This is great news since many Steam Deck users have complained that its sub-par battery life and heavy weight were two of its major cons.
However, now that the Steam Deck OLED release date is near, Valve is cutting the prices of the original Steam Deck. In addition, Valve has also stopped producing more 64 GB and 512 GB SteamDeck models. Their prices have been slashed to $349 and $449, respectively, and will be available in markets till stock runs out.
However, the 256 GB Steam Deck will still be in production, with a reduced price point of $399.
The 512 GB Steam Deck OLED price will be $549, while the 1 TB “Limited Edition” Steam Deck OLED price will be $649. This version will only be available in the USA and Canada.
