- Even though the PS5 Slim release date hasn’t been announced yet, fans are gearing up for its launch with excitement.
- Many YouTubers have already gotten their hands on the PS5 and are tearing it apart piece by piece.
- Tech YouTuber Dave2D has noticed how well the detachable disk drive works in the PS5 Slim, which works better than the original PS5.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 so far has been regarded as the best PlayStation ever made.
With beefy specifications providing it with great performance, along with a clean white look and sturdy built quality, it has been a hit so far, selling over 40 million units since its launch in mid-2020 amidst the pandemic. Therefore, it has outsold its main rival – Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S – which has sold around 23 million units.
However, Sony is not done yet. Sony initially launched two versions of the PS5 – the Standard edition and the cheaper Digital edition, which has no disk drive.
Now, Sony is gearing up for two more launches. Sony’s PS5 Portable will launch this month on November 15, while its mid-life upgrade to the PS5 – the PS5 Slim – is expected to come out by the end of this year. However, no release date has been announced for the latter.
However, we see many YouTubers getting an early hands-on experience with the PS5 Slim, provided by Sony themselves (lucky them). Here, they have pointed out one major advantage the PS5 Slim has over the standard PS5 – its detachable disk drive.
In the video above, we see YouTuber Dave Lee (owner of the Dave2D channel) tear down the PS5 Slim. If you see this video, you will understand how easy it is to detach the disk drive with a single pull! We are all in to see Sony take this modular design approach with the PS5.
The PS5 Slim price has been confirmed to be $599. It’s expected to be released in December 2023. Let us know in the comments if you wish to buy it or not and what games you wish to play on it first!
