WhatsApp Status updates might be less crucial to most than its other Meta-based stories on Instagram and Facebook. However, many WhatsApp Web users were disappointed that the PC version of the app has several features missing, like the ability to add a status update.
Until now, you can only see your contacts’ status updates on the WhatsApp web version. But, you could not post a status of your own – a feature available on the mobile versions. However, the latest WhatsApp Web update changes this fact, finally allowing you to post a status update without using the app.

The ability to share status updates finally extends to WhatsApp Web, and it's available to some beta testers!https://t.co/uHQF6RgUP1 pic.twitter.com/JgcM7nob1h
This new WhatsApp Web Update is only for its beta users. So far, it’s only available for WhatsApp Web Beta 2.2353.59 users. Therefore, if you use this version, open the WhatsApp Web app and head to the Updates tab. There, just like the WhatsApp mobile version, you will find the option to “Add to my Status.”
If you click on the option above, you will see two new options: “Photos & Videos” and “Text.” Therefore, it’s similar to the WhatsApp mobile version, where you get to upload text-based status updates and pictures.
However, this is only available for WhatsApp Web Windows users. Unfortunately, you need more time using WhatsApp Web macOS on the MacBook Air M1. The WhatsApp Web macOS version will get this update after it gets rolled out for the Windows version.
Moreover, there are other significant updates WhatsApp Web is getting. In addition to the Status Update, WhatsApp Web also has the option to stick essential messages at the top of the chat. For mobile users, it’s called “Pin to Chat.”What do you think of this new WhatsApp Web update? Let us know in the comments below!
