Android users rejoice! If you have been waiting patiently for the next iteration of the Android OS to roll out for your Pixel smartphones, then your prayers have been answered! Android 14 release date has been confirmed to be on today, October 4, 2023!
This release date for Android 14 – codenamed Android U, has been confirmed by Canadian cell phone carrier Telus, who have listed this update in their software listings.
According to sources, this update will initially be only available for Google Pixel smartphones, starting with the Google Pixel 4A… Soon, this update will be made available on Android devices of other manufacturers, like OnePlus and Samsung.
While Telus did initially report this information under their software listing, it has since been removed. I believe Google promptly asked them to do so after the release date got leaked.
Android 14 has been codenamed Android U – short for Upside Down Cake. While this is the internal codename for this OS, I am leaving this to speculation so far. However, by tonight, we all will know what the actual name is!
The release date for Android 14 is expected to be today since Google has announced that they will host the virtual Google Pixel 8 launch event today as well. Therefore, it all makes sense that today October 4, is the day.
This update is about to bring lots of new improvements to the Android OS, like:
- Notification flashes
- Improved battery consumption
- Notification volume control
- Better privacy features
- Option to only share certain photos and videos with Google
So are you excited about this update? Stay tuned to get all the new Android 14 updates!
