The Amazon 2023 Launch Event took place recently, and we got to see some interesting revelations. From a new Echo and Fire TV device, we also get to see how Amazon is implementing the use of generative AI on most of its devices.
Maybe now is the time Alexa finally becomes an actual “conversational AI” rather than just a voice assistant. I guess time will answer this sooner than later!
Here are all the new product unveils and updates that were presented at the Amazon 2023 Launch Event:
Echo Show 8
Price: $149
First off, Amazon revealed the new Amazon Echo Show 8 to kick off the event. This new smart display now receives spatial audio support. It’s now able to sense its surroundings (whatever’s in the room) and adjust its sound output accordingly.
It also received tons of new smart home functionalities. In addition, it now has a proximity sensor, a front camera, and a mic-off switch as well! Pre-orders start today!
Echo Frames 2.0
Price: $269.99
If you think those smart glasses we see in James Bond and Mission Impossible movies were unreal, think again (somewhat). Amazon finally revealed its new Echo Frames 2.0 device – smart audio glasses with 6 hours of battery life.
While these were originally launched in 2020, it was a major flop since they didn’t impress anyone. However, the Echo Frame 2.0 now has a blue-light lens with five different frame styles. It also has new upgraded speakers that isolate outside noise to give you a good hearing experience. Pre-orders start today!
Echo Hub Smart Control Panel
:Price: $179.99
With IoT (Internet of Things) expanding to great heights in 2023, Amazon launched its new Echo Hub Smart Home control at the right time. This is an 8” touchscreen tablet that lets you control all your smart home devices with Alexa.
By default, it will show a clock on the screen. However, if you get close, it will reveal its Home screen to you. In addition, it also has the same OS as the Echo Show. Pre-orders start today!
Alexa + Generative AI
Amazon provided Alexa with a much-needed update in the form of adding various generative AI capabilities. What this means is that Alexa can now make conversations with you (like ChatGPT does) whenever you ask it something – in a more natural and humane way.
This AI is based on a powerful LLM (Language Learning Machine) tool that makes it learn who you are the more you interact with it. This update will be available on all Amazon devices that use Alexa. Pre-orders start today!
Fire TV Stick 4K
Price: $49.99 / $59.99 (Max variant)
The Amazon Fire TV has been a moderate success so far, and it got a few major upgrades this time. The new Fire TV models will get a better processor, along with support for Dolby Vision and Audio, Wi-Fi 6, HDR10+ support, and more!
The Max variant doubled down on storage space, now having 16GB internal storage. It will also have Wi-Fi 6E support for faster connectivity. Pre-orders start today!
Fire TV Soundbar
Price: $119.99
Last up, we got to see the new Fire TV Soundbar, a 24” Bluetooth soundbar that’s best paired alongside the Fire TV Stick 4K. However, you can pair it with any device with Bluetooth. Pre-orders start today!
