OnePlus 12 Release Date And Specifications: Everything We Know So Far

OnePlus has quickly cemented itself as one of the best Android smartphone producers in the last few years. They’re famous in the market for producing great flagship smartphones at half the price of other premium smartphones. Therefore, now that they are nearing almost 12 years in the market, their next release – the highly anticipated OnePlus 12 – might be a banger.

However, with an uncertain release date, fans have been speculating about its release date and features for months. Therefore, to make it simpler,. I will give you an overview of what to expect from the upcoming OnePlus 12.

OnePlus 12 Release Date And Price Speculations

OnePlus 12 Release Date And Price Speculations

While the OnePlus 12 specifications are essential, people have shown more interest in finding out its release date and price. Therefore, according to various leaks, the OnePlus 12 release date is expected to be sometime in January 2024.

However, recent tweets suggest it will have a China-only release on December 05, 2023. There are many reasons to believe this if you look at previous OnePlus releases. They first saw launches in China, followed by a global launch a month or two later. In addition, leaks suggest a global release date of January 23, 2024.

Moreover, the OnePlus 12 price has yet to see any leaks. However, if we are to follow previous releases, the OnePlus 11 price at launch was $699. However, you can get it on Amazon for $659.

Therefore, the OnePlus 12 price should be around $749 – closer to the Google Pixel 8 price.

OnePlus 12 Specifications: What The Leaks And Rumors Say (So Far)

Now that we know its expected release date and price, what about the OnePlus 12 specifications? Will we see any improvements compared to the fantastic OnePlus 11 5G?

Design And Build

Design And Build

Look at the leaked images of the OnePlus 12. You will see that it looks identical to the OnePlus 11 5G. The screen and the rear look the same, with some minor changes.

The screen will have the same punch-hole front camera at its center – like the cheaper OnePlus 11R. In addition, it will also have the same curved-edge display as the OnePlus 11.

Moreover, if you turn it around – you will spot the rear camera, which still has the same design. However, instead of Hasselblad written in full, you will only spot an “H” this time.

However, regarding OnePlus 12 upgrades, the best change is the IP68 rating. The OnePlus 11 had an IP64 rating – lower than most smartphones in its price range. Even cheaper phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro have an IP68 rating, along with rivals Nothing Phone 2.

Display

Display

According to OnePlus 12 rumors and OnePlus news, there are two possibilities here.

The first possibility is that this phone will have a 6.7” AMOLED display. Therefore, it will be the same as the OnePlus 11 display. In addition, it will also have a 120 Hz refresh rate.

However, several other leaks show that the OnePlus 12 might have a bigger 6.82” screen with 1440x3216p resolution.

Moreover, the most significant leak comes from the fact that the OnePlus 12 will have a 4,500 Nits display. This is amazing since this would make this the brightest smartphone ever!

Camera

Camera

The OnePlus 11 has some excellent cameras, giving phones like the Google Pixel 7A a run for their money.

The OnePlus 11 had a 50 MP sensor (Sony LYT), a 48 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32 MP telephoto lens. However, the OnePlus 12 improves on all of these. This time, you will see a 48 MP primary camera, a 48 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64 MP telephoto camera.

Therefore, OnePlus is taking one major complaint about the OnePlus 11 – its poor telephoto camera – seriously. While the camera remains more or less the same, we expect a better sensor than the previous model’s Sony LYT 808.

Moreover, the OnePlus 12 might have a better 32 MP front camera – doubling down on the 16 MP front camera of the former. However, there has yet to be a confirmation for this.

In addition, the OnePlus 12 will also feature a 3x optical zoom. However, it still will not hold up to the 5x optical zoom of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Battery

The OnePlus 11 got a lot of praise for its 5,000 mAh battery with 100w (80w in the US) SuperVOOC charging. It will easily last you more than a day if you play games less.

However, the OnePlus 12 is kicking things up a notch with its 5,400 mAh battery. In addition, it’s also including 50W wireless charging as well – a feature everyone wants in a modern smartphone. People had many criticisms against the OnePlus 11, which ditched wireless charging for a smartphone with a $699 price tag.

However, cheaper powerhouses like the Samsung Galaxy M24 have a 6,000 mAh battery. It will also be great to see the OnePlus 12 having a 6,000 mAh battery, although that’s highly unlikely.

OxygenOS 14 And Performance

OxygenOS 14 And Performance

The OnePlus 12 will get the fantastic Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor – one of the best Android smartphone chipsets. In addition, it will feature the Adreno 750 GPU as well. Therefore, if you are a gamer, this will be a powerful gaming smartphone you can buy next year.

If you are not, it is still a powerful smartphone to suit all your needs. Whether you use it to shoot videos and photos and edit them for Instagram or TikTok, it will serve your needs handsomely. It will do that for office tasks like opening sheets and taking notes on the go.

In addition, multitasking will be fluid and snappy, thanks to its 24 GB RAM model, making Floating Windows snappier. Plus, you can store lots of data as well, courtesy of it having a maximum of 1 TB internal storage. However, the 24 GB RAM with 1 TB storage might only be exclusive to China.

In simple terms – it will be one of the best Android smartphones. Well, after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which happens in the same month,

OnePlus 12: Will This Smartphone Deal Be Worth It?

OnePlus 12 Will This Smartphone Deal Be Worth It

If you ask me – yes, the OnePlus 12 will be a great smartphone that you can eye for early 2024. Its specifications beat the Google Pixel 8 easily, and it might be more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Therefore, if it does launch with a high-end price tag of $799 – go for it. However, if you can afford the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra for $200 more, that might be the better choice. Only time will tell.

Let us know in the comments if you want to buy the OnePlus 12 and what new features you expect to see!
